Understanding and Leveraging Small Business R&D Grant Opportunities, Thursday, October 8, 2009
The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program and the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Program provides research and development grant funding to many small businesses as a means to spur technological innovation and meet federal R&D needs. Through the SBIR program, certain federal agencies are required to set aside 2.5 percent of R&D dollars for small businesses to conduct R&D projects. The STTR program makes awards to small businesses working cooperatively with researchers at universities and other research institutions. However, many local government officials do not know how to efficiently navigate this site and save time when pursuing federal grants. Healthcare Security: Managing Risk and Maximizing Benefit, October 8, 2008
Presenters discussed the major security standards and regulatory compliance issues that influence hospital security directors decision-making and their physical security strategies. They also covered how to effectively manage threats to healthcare security structures, people and systems. SIA is working to help provide security directors with new sources of financing for physical security investments and staff education for healthcare facilities.
