Comments Sought Regarding Security Industry's Bindings Standard
In March 2008, SIA Standard's Pan-Industry Data Models Subcommittee requested comments on the scope of a “bindings” standard for the security industry. This produced few responses, however, and those received seemed to represent a narrow constituency. As a result, the subcommittee has issued a new call for comment in the hopes of receiving a broader-based response from industry and consumers that clarifies the need for a bindings standard.
Comments on the standard could affect the utilization of products by a broad class of consumers. For this reason, we have provided an executive summary that is non-technical so that executive management can gauge the importance of this issue and ensure that their organization’s views are represented with knowledgeable technical comment.
Comments are due by Friday, Dec. 19, and should be submitted to Monica Rigano, SIA's director of standards, at mrigano@siaonline.org.
