The VSST Level 1 Study Guide was written by two experts in the field: Vlado Damjanovski and Howard Kohnstamm.
Vlado Damjanovski is an author, lecturer and CCTV expert who is well known to the Australian and international CCTV industry. He has a degree in Electronics Engineering and Television, and he has designed and commissioned many CCTV systems in Australia and around the world. He has authored three books about CCTV and has trained thousands of people in seminars about CCTV. Damjanovski was a leading advocate for the development of the first Austrialian CCTV standards, which were published in 2006, and he chairs the Australian CCTV Standards Subcommittee.
Howard Kohnstamm got his start in CCTV distribution in 1988, and he quickly discovered that most of his customers were self-taught or received only on-the-job training. This prompted him to develop a 16-hour course titled “CCTV Essentials,” and since 1991, he has provided training to installers and designers throughout the southeastern United States. Kohnstamm is one of nine subject matter experts who developed the NICET video security systems practice analysis. He has the distinction of being the only author and trainer who is an active systems integrator, served as a NICET subject matter expert and has passed all six NICET video security systems exams.
