SIA Standards Committee
Chair: Gary Klinefelter, HID Global
The SIA Standards Committee serves as the guiding body of SIA Standards programs. Its members work together to develop and promulgate industry standards in a coordinated effort with other standards writing bodies. The Standards Committee is chaired by a Director from the SIA Board and is comprised of Standards Subcommittee Chairs and members from SIA Interest Groups representing specific interest areas within the security industry.
Some of the many responsibilities of the SIA Standard Committee include, but are not limited to:
- Approving New Standards Projects/ Setting Project Priorities
All requests for new standards projects are circulated to the applicable SIA Interest Groups for assessment of interest and need. Upon completion of this assessment, these requests are forwarded to this committee, which based upon the Interest Groups' assessment and the priority of the project relative to existing SIA resources, will grant or deny final approval.
- Settling Appeal and Protests
In the event that individual subcommittees are unable to reach a satisfactory disposition of an objection received from a submitter in reference to a SIA Standard, these objections are forwarded to this committee for final disposition.
- Oversight of Subcommittee
This body acts as the governing body of SIA's Standards Subcommittees.
- Setting Program Policies
This committee oversees the adoption, amendment, and revision of SIA Standards Program policies. The Committee ratifies all changes to the policies.
